Baccarat is typically played with six to eight standard decks of cards, and the objective of the game is to bet on the hand that will come closest to a total value of 9.
General Rules
▪️ 52 cards of a deck are used
▪️ 2 hands are formed on the table → 1 for the player and 1 for the banker
▪️ 2 of them are dealt 2 cards each
▪️ the goal is to choose the hand that is closer to nine (9), adding card numbers
▪️ there is also a chance to bet on a tie if the player thinks the 2 hands will have the same sum
▪️ number 9 is the highest hand
▪️ all players have to decide on who to bet on & the amount they would like to place
▪️ if the sum of the cards is 8, it's called le petit, if sum is 9 it's called le grande
▪️ if one of these sets is drawn with the first 2 cards that have been dealt, le petit or le grande Wins & Round is Over
The Meaning of Hands
◾Player
▪️ player takes the 3rd card if card sum is 0 - 5
▪️ an exception is where banker has 8 or 9 → natural hand
▪️ player stays on 2 cards if the sum ≥ 6
◾Banker
▪️ gets a 3rd card if the sum of all cards (player & banker) is 1-2
▪️ 3 → 3rd card unless the player has 8
▪️ 4 → 3rd card in case player has 2-7
▪️ 5 → 3rd card in case player has 7-9
Value of Cards
▪️ all cards have their original value except aces which is one (1) & figures that hold no value and count as zero (0)
▪️ only one-digit cards are counted (if 1 player has a 2 and a 9 his total sum will be 1, not 11 / if a player has a 6 & 8 the total sum will be 4, not 14 / subtract 10 from any 2 digits numbers)
▪️ aces → always count as 1
▪️ cards 2-9 → have their name value
▪️ all figures & 10’s → hold zero (0) value
How to win in Baccarat
▪️ if the player has a total sum of 8 or 9 wins unless the dealer has also the same sum
▪️ if the player has any other set, the dealer can give him the 3rd card if the sum of 1st 2 cards is ≥ 5
▪️ the one who has the greatest hand is the winner of the round
